Caesar took Holy Orders. He was of high literary attainments and a first rate scholar, having numerous works published. In 1803 he married Frances Hastings, only daughter of James Hastings, Dean of Achonry. Dean Hastings was descended from the Earls of Huntingdon and but one degree removed from the Earldom (see Appendices). By Frances Hastings, Caesar had five children (see Folio 15). After the death of Frances Hastings in 1833, Caesar married Elizabeth la Touche, daughter of James Digges la Touche of Dublin, on 17th January 1837. Caesar died in March, 1842, aged sixty-three.
He co-operated with Joseph Henderson Singer in the establishment of "Christian Examiner", 1825, and with George Petrie in "Dublin Penny Journal"; he preached at Leeson Street Chapel, London.
There was an engraving of Caesar in University Magazine for October 1839
