Click here for a brilliant musical track!
I now have four copies of the trilogy on Laserdisc which, even though they are a fantastic cinematic trio, is a little excessive. Ever since the original films were discontinued (Christmas '96) they have been extremely difficult to get hold of, although the new version, Star Wars Special Edition was released in 1997 with new special effects and previously unreleased scenes, but even this version was only on sale for a limited period. This has, to a certain extent, turned the original version of the film into something of a collector's item.
Since I have finally managed to find a copy of the elusive original box-set, and also have the box-set for the Special Edition, I am now able to sell my two other copies which are no longer necessary.
The first set I have is the NTSC THX versions of the original films, which are in perfect condition. They come on two discs per film (3 sides per film) and are all CLV format, except for side 3 of both Star Wars and Return of the Jedi which are in CAV (allowing frame by frame viewing). Below are extracts scanned from the sleeves of the films.
The second set I have consists of only Star Wars and Return of the Jedi. It is (as far as I am aware) the very first release of the films on Laserdisc. These are non-THX first editions; the sleeves are a little worn, but the discs play perfectly. You may recognise the following sleeve scans (when ITV used to show Star Wars at Christmas, this was the artwork used for the Ad Breaks!).
Anyway - if you're interested, email me with a sensible offer. I am based in the south of England (UK), but can arrange postage if necessary.
I am also trying to get some info on a book that was given to me by somebody clearing out a loft. As far as I can tell it is an original copy of the first edition 'Book of the Film', released in 1977 as an official item of film merchandise. The sleeve is still intact (see below) and the book is in pristine condition. In the middle of the book is a photo section with shots from the film and the film set.
I am trying to find out how rare this book is, its possible resale value and hence insurable value. Please contact me if you can help (or if you're interested, although I'm not really keen on selling it).
Alternatively, go to the real Star Wars site...
