Humphrey entered Christs College, Cambridge on 25/5/1627, aged 16 and graduated with B.A. 1635, M.A. 1638. He was a pensioner of St. John's College, Cambridge. He died in 1670 while Rector of Woolbeding, three miles from Trotton (see silver flagon). His widow died in 1703, making a gift of a silvery flagon to the church.
