There is no proof that he was a son of Thomas, although it seems probable. He apparently took over as a Governor of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Kirkby Lonsdale, from his first cousin, Galfridi (A 14). At the time Walter was said to be of Beckside Hall, Middleton, the seat of the Otway family, probably ranked only after the Middleton family of Middleton Hall.
