Caesar Edward was known as `Tinker'. He went to the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers. As a Captain he was the last British officer to surrender in Hong-Kong. He was awarded the Military Cross (MC). He escaped from the Japanese but was re-captured. He spent the rest of the War in a Prisoner-of-War camp in Japan. In the late fifties/early sixties he retired from the Army and joined the Ministry of Defence as a Civil Servant Engineer.
