John married Mary, co-heiress of Colonel John White of Knockhorlen, near Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. They left only one surviving son, born 17th Aug 1703, who died unmarried. There were three daughters - Katherine, Phoebe and Mary. A further son Henry died young. John died intestate - letters of administration were granted on 16th Dec 1704. Mary's will was proved on 17th June 1738.
According to Burke's 'Landed Gentry of Ireland' (1958), and Burke's Peerage 1881, John married Mary Whiterowe.
