Godfrey Addington Fleet ("Goff”) Otway was born at Winton in 1902. He was the youngest son of Arthur and was prnbably only four years old when he moved with his family to Kipling Avenue, Epsom. Auckland. Goff had an interesting and varied career. He and his brother Ted farmed in North Auckland during the depression years. In 1930, he took a load of Stud Sheep to the Argentine and worked as a Major Domo on a Estancia of 1.25 million acres before returning by way of England and working his way back to New Zealand. He married Joyce Bremner in 1931. He went to Taranaki to do fibrous plaster of theatre ceilings and concrete work. He made reservoirs and tennis courts in the Palmerston North area and also did a considerable amount of agricultural contracting in Warkworth and surrounding areas - also on the Government block at Wharehine. He erected a 50,000 gallon reservoir at the Welisford School and one of a similar capacity at the KawaKawa Hospital. Later he was involved in logging and the timber industry in Coromandel and had a mill in Thames. He farmed on Great Barrier Island for some years as well as in North Auckland. In later years, he did restoration of antique furniture. Goff and Joyce retired to Takanini shortly before his death in 1977. GOFF and JOYCE had five children:
