Redvers Caesar Robert. Otway ("Ted") attended Auckland Grammar School and then worked as a shepherd in the Gisborne region. was in North Auckland for a time and had two further year working on Motutapu Island. He then did a cadetship on a sheep property at Invercargill (his Uncle Ted's place). After moving back to the family property at Ramarama, he worked for some years for the Education Department building reservoirs, tanks and swimming pools. He then started his own building business in Hawkes Bay, eventually marrying Greta Hansen and settling in Gisborne. He became well known as a boat builder and founded the Gisborne Yacht Club, built the clubhouse and was the Club's president. He has sailed in yachts of all sizes throughout his life and his sons have sailed in ''P" class yachts up to ocean-going keelers. Ted and his two sons sailed to Sydney in the 1961 Trans Tasman Yacht Race in the ''Ceciline" which he built. Although Ted and Greta are now, retired and live in Tauranga. he still likes building yachts and is currently finishing his third 40 foot keeler for himself. TED and GRETA had two sons..
